Web Design & Redesign
Many people have sites already which they are unhappy with. Perhaps your site is outdated; perhaps it never appears in the first couple of pages of search results when you look for it; perhaps your existing designer has moved on. We can take any existing site and redesign it using the latest web technologies. We will give it a full rewrite so that it appears high in search results.
How much does this cost? Work out, from the Products pricing tables, what it would
cost to get what you already have, designed from scratch because that's what
we'll be doing: from the ground up - brand new! (Obviously, you don't need
to include material you intend to keep, such as a logo or photographs: we'll
just reuse what you already have.) Oh... and the cost of examining what your old
site to identify its failings and how we can remedy this?
That'll be free!
This pricing you work out may not be an exact fit. In this case, we’ll quote you and, as usual, expect value for money!

Static Pages |
These are pages that can contain text, graphics, photographs and video. They are static in the sense that the information on them
doesn’t change. They will typically not contain any “form” elements such as text boxes to fill in, drop down options, check boxes, submit buttons, etc. The user doesn’t usually “interact” with the page; he or she will just read it. |
£30 |
|
Dynamic Pages |
These are pages which typically allow a user to type something into the page or
show information from a database depending on information the user provides.
Think Amazon, etc.: you type a title into a text box (on the first
dynamic page) and you get a list of books
based on what you typed (on a second dynamic page); two dynamic pages.
The information isn't a part of a fixed page: it is in a database and the page
is created on the fly. |

| Bit complicated this stuff, isn’t it. If you’re a little confused, just give us a ring and we’ll walk you through the pricing of the pages you have in mind. No problem! |
|
Database |
Do you need to store text, images, photographs, etc. that can be pulled from the database and shown to users? If you have a static page containing text, images, etc., then these do not need to be in a database. You will only need one
if you want dynamic pages that display only the text, images, photographs, etc.,
that a user asks for. |

E-commerce Site |
An e-commerce site has a minimum fixed structure: a certain set of pages. We, therefore, charge a fixed price for this structure. You can add static or scripted pages to it to tailor it to your needs. All e-commerce sites use a database but this is included in this price.
You will need a product catalogue, priced below. |

Product Catalogue |
If you want to accept payment for your products online, we’ll need to set each product up carefully with a picture, description, pricing, add to cart button, etc. This service, per item... |

CMS |
A Content Management System is a special page (or group of pages) within your site.
It is secure: only you have access to it! You access your CMS in the same way
you access any page on the Internet: via your web browser. No special software
or expertise is required. You can then use this page to change the text of
your site, upload images, edit your product catalogue, etc. If you want to
maintain your site yourself, this is the way to go.
We charge a fixed fee for the creation of the CMS you will use to maintain your
site.
Price is related to complexity of CMS. Below is a "common sense" idea of what
you might need and what it costs. |
| If your site consists of essentially static pages. |
Basic maintenance: a CMS which allows you to change the
text on your pages, for example. |
£100 |
| Comprehensive maintenance: a CMS which allows you to upload
media (photographs, video), for example. |
£200 |
| If your site consists of essentially dynamic pages. |
Basic maintenance: a CMS which allows you to maintain a
smaller database/catalogue (say, under 250 items). |
£300 |
| Comprehensive maintenance: a CMS which allows you to
maintain a large database/catalogue (hundreds of items). |
£400 |
|
We Maintain your Site |
Below is a list of what we consider to be adequate monthly payments to keep your
site up to date. You can subscribe to a monthly direct debit for this
maintenance. (You can also use your Account section of the Myrddin site to
unsubscribe at any time, if you wish.) |
|
A basic, static site (around 5 pages with no dynamic pages) |
£10 |
|
A more complex static site (10 or more static pages with one or two dynamics - a
"Request our Newsletter" page for example) |
£20 |
|
A smaller dynamic site (less than 250 items in your product catalogue) |
£30 |
|
A complex dynamic site (hundreds of products) |
£40 |
| If you don’t make too many changes to your site, this is probably the most
cost-effective solution. |
| As a general note on maintenance, when search engines visit your site (which they do automatically about
every four weeks), if they find it unchanged since the last visit, your site will fall in their rankings. This means you may no longer appear in the first pages of search results.
You must maintain your site regularly. Think of it as a shop window: if the display is always the same, passers-by stop looking at it all together. |
Amateur Photographer
You want a simple site to show your photographs to the world.
You'll need a static homepage with links to your "categories" of images: (£30); a
static About Me page: (£30); static pages for displaying the photographs in each
category: (£90 - 3 categories). You don't change the images much and choose to
email new images and instructions for changes to us so that we can make the
changes for you: (£10/month)
Total Cost: £150; £10/month subscription.
Semi Pro Photographer
You want the above, but you take a lot of photographs and have more
categories. You'd like users to be able to "search" all of your photographs for
the ones they'd like to see (according to category, date taken, etc.)
You'll need a dynamic home page, with a search box: (£60); let's keep the static
About Me page: (£30) and add a static page describing your influences in
photography: (£30); you'll need a database to store all of those images: (£100);
and you'll need a dynamic "results of search" page to display images: (£60). As
you take photographs frequently, you want to manage the database yourself. This
is an essentially static site (the only dynamic element is the search for
photographs): you'll need a £200 CMS.
Total Cost: £480; no monthly subscription.
Commercial Photographer
You take thousands of photographs and want to sell them online.
You'll need an e-commerce solution: (£500 - your database is included in this
price along with all of the pages you need for your online storefront); let's
say you have a 300-image catalogue: (£450). You'll need a heavy-duty CMS to
manage this: (£400).
Total Cost: £1350; no monthly subscription.
Don't forget your hosting!
